    CPC ads are different from CPM because with CPC you get paid not when visitors view ads but when they click on them. The good news is that CPC rates are much, much better and as a result, it is possible to make a decent income even with a small site with not so high traffic. The key with CPC success is to have a well-targeted site in a niche where there are a lot of advertisers.

    The most popular CPC network is Google Adsense and even though there are other CPC networks, the income you can make from Adsense is much higher.     Affiliate programs can make you rich because there are many products with really fat commissions. For niches such as health, finance, travel, etc. affiliate programs are a real golden mine.

    However, affiliate programs require a lot of efforts on your side and still there is no guarantee that the offers you pick to promote will convert well and will make you money. Sometimes even the highest converting offers won’t convert on your site and the only thing you can do is replace them with other offers, hoping that they will convert better.

    In the dawn of the Internet, Yahoo! was the most popular search engine. When Google arrived, its indisputably precise search results made it the preferred search engine. However, Google is not the only search engine around and it is estimated that about 20-25% or searches are conducted on Yahoo! Another major player on the market is MSN or (Bing), which means that SEO professionals cannot afford to optimize only for Google but need to take into account the specifics of the other two engines (Yahoo! and MSN (Bing) as well.

    Optimizing for three search engines at the same time is not an easy task. There were times, when the SEO community was inclined to think that the algorithm of Yahoo! was on deliberately just the opposite to the Google algorithm because pages that ranked high in Google did not do so well in Yahoo! and vice versa. The Yahoo! spider-bot is the the second most active spider crawler on the Web. Yahoo! Slurp is not different from the other bots and if your page misses important elements of the SEO mix that make it not spider-able, then it hardly makes a difference which algorithm will be used because you will never get to the first page.

    Yahoo! Slurp might be even more active than Google-bot because occasionally there are more pages in the Yahoo! index than in Google. Another difference between Yahoo! and Google is the sandbox (putting the sites “on hold” for some time till they appear in search results). Google’s sandbox is deeper, so if you have made recent changes to your site, you might have to wait a month or two (shorter for Yahoo! and longer for Google) till these changes are reflected in the search results.

    With new major changes in the Google algorithm under way it’s hard to tell if the same SEO tactics will be hot on Google in two months’ time    . One of the supposed changes is the decrease in weight of links and back links. If this happens, a major difference between Yahoo! and Google will be eliminated because as of today Google places more importance on factors such as back links, while Yahoo! sticks more to on page factors, like keyword density in the title, the URL, and the headings.

    Of all the differences between Yahoo! and Google, the way keywords in the title and in the URL are treated is the most important. If you have the keyword in these two places, then you can expect a top 10 place in Yahoo!. But beware – a title and an URL cannot be unlimited and technically you can place no more than 3 or 4 keywords there. Also, it matters if the keyword in the title and in the URL is in a basic form or if it is a derivative – e.g. when searching for “cat”, URLs with “catwalk” will also be displayed in Yahoo! but most likely in the second 100 results, while URLs with “cat” only are quite near to the top.

    Since Yahoo! is first a directory for submissions and then a search engine, a site, which has the keyword in the category it is listed under, stands a better chance to be in the beginning of the search results. With Google this is not that important. For Yahoo! keywords in file names also score well, while for Google this is not a factor of exceptional importance as of this article.

    But the major difference is keyword density. The higher the density, the higher the positioning with Yahoo! But beware – some of the keyword-rich sites on Yahoo! can with no difficulty fall into the keyword-stuffed category for Google, so if you attempt to score well on Yahoo! (with keyword density above 7-8%), you risk to be banned by Google!

    Yahoo introduced a Web toolbar that collects anonymous statistics about which sites users browse, thus way getting an aggregated value (from 0 to 10) of how popular a given site is. The higher the value, the more popular a site is and the more valuable the back-links from it are.

    Although Web-Rank and positioning in the search results are not directly correlated, there is a dependence between them – sites with high Web-Rank tend to position higher than comparable sites with lower Web-Rank and the Web-Ranks of the top 20-30 results for any given keyword are most often above 5.00 on average.

    The value of Web-Rank as a measure of success is often discussed in SEO communities and the general opinion is that this is not the most relevant metrics. However, one of the benefits of Web-Rank is that it alerts Yahoo! Slurp that a new page has appeared, thus inviting it to spider it, if it is not already in the Yahoo! Search index.

    When Yahoo! toolbar was launched, it had an icon that showed the Web-Rank of the page that is currently open in the browser. Later this feature was removed but still there are tools on the Web that allow to check the Web-Rank of a particular page such as Alexa. For instance, this tool allows to check the Web-Ranks of a whole bunch of pages at a time.

    With or Against Google, Which Is More Profitable?

    Unfortunately there is this incorrect perception that getting to the first page of Google is something that takes years to Discover or Implement and to Find Wealth.

    Take a look at the bigger picture and the answer will be shown to you. Currently Google is the biggest search engine around and therefore has the biggest audience. It is this audience that Google is dedicated to and not the business people on the internet.

    What I mean is that the priority for Google is to provide relevant fast results to searches completed on it. This means that you as the business owner are not as important as compared to the person doing the search. Yes you have the info but you are not the searcher.

    In order to provide the best possible service Google can, it has developed an ever evolving algorithm that searches the web in an attempt to index the most specific information for the respective search term used by a person.

    We have all heard about the “Google Slap”, if you are a website owner. But why does it happen. I look at it this way, we are attempting to take advantage of Google and attract the audience it can provide for us, correct? Now if you want to use a big company like Google why would you be so stupid and do things that they do not like you doing?

    I have proven over and over that getting to the first page of Google is not that hard as long as you play by Google’s rules. So it should be. Think about this as a business. If you do a Joint Venture with another company and are playing on their field you would not go out of your way to do things that they did not like, you have to agree with this statement, it is simple business sense.

    If you were to do something that your Joint Venture partner did not like, your deal would be terminated, the Google Slap is this termination on the internet. Why should they reward you when you go out of your way to do things that they do not think is in the best interest of their clients?

    I find it so funny that Google is good enough to provide information on how you can get and stay in its good books and yet there are so many people out there that still want to go the Black path. How stupid is it when you consider that your Joint Venture partner is telling you the rules it is using and the best methods to use to get to the top yet you do things differently. I can not understand this.

    Yes Google is not a charity and does make money out of you from advertising with them but it is providing you with potential clients. I say good on them for coming up with a system where each Joint Venture member gets something out of it.

    Yes there are small adjustments one can do to get more out of your advertising budget and I use them with all my clients and were you to see them you would agree that they simply align themselves very well with the core purpose of Google – Relevant information for its clients.

    We all know that the big free traffic is on the first page of the search results and the higher on that page the better. Now if you follow Googles rules your destination will be the front page, its as simple as that. IF you do not you will NOT be rewarded and your site might NEVER see the front page and therefore be missing out on all that FREE traffic.

    In my mind the answer is simple, when the above information is considered. Working WITH Google is far more profitable when compared to working against them.

    Which is simpler? I say, using their rules, as you do not have to sneak around the net in fear of being Google Slapped or even deleted from their indexing.

    I know that if only one person takes this on board and stays on the good side of Google and does not use any of the Blackhat strategies, to make money on the internet, this article was worth the time taken to make it.

    Work with Google not against them if you are intending to be on the internet LONG TERM.
